ASH KOHALMI

MEET ASH:

Ash Kohalmi is a graduate therapist-in-training at Bryn Mawr's Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research, where they are pursuing their Master of Social Service (expected Spring 2027). They hold a Bachelor of Social Work from West Chester University. Their clinical experience includes internships with HIAS PA, supporting immigrants and refugees in navigating the healthcare system, and with AIDS Law Project, helping people impacted by HIV/AIDS access legal support. They have also spent several years volunteering with People's Kitchen Philly, cooking and serving free meals in South Philly, and bring a background as a research assistant studying harm reduction, LGBTQ+ social work, and anti-racism and equity in practice.

Ash welcomes individuals, couples, and families into their therapy room, and approaches every client relationship as strength-based, systems-focused, and trauma-informed. They believe clients are the experts on their own lives — their role is to walk alongside them, free from shame or judgment, as they work toward the goals that matter most. Ash has particular interest and experience working with people who are LGBTQ+, as well as those who are polyamorous or ethically non-monogamous. Their areas of focus include trauma, depression, anxiety, stress, relationship issues, family therapy, and LGBTQ+ issues.
