MEET EMILY:

   Emily’s passion for working with her clients shows through when you meet her grounding and strength based approach to meeting your goals.  When you meet Emily, she integrates an active approach to therapy, while holding space for you to discuss sensitive issues.  She opens her therapy doors to welcome people from all walks of life - including providing culturally competent therapy, LGBTQ+ affirming therapy, and walks alongside her clients with an Ecosystemic structural approach to therapy.  With over a decade of systemic therapeutic experience, Emily has served numerous counties in Pennsylvania to provide comprehensive family based therapy services. 

       The first words that clients use to describe Emily include: compassionate, calm, and pragmatic, while always integrating a feminist and anti-racist lens to therapy.  She remains curious with her clients to help them better understand patterns and investigate the origins from their family and partners and how to create new healthy patterns.  With extensive advanced systemic training, Emily Giorgio has a toolbox of evidence-based clinical interventions to help you make changes in the direction that you want to go.  She has spent years helping clients of all ages move past their trauma history.   

  •        Sun Point is proud to have Emily’s clinical support in providing supervision for marriage & family therapists.  Utilizing attachment theory, Emily is passionate about working with families and is honored to support families in holding space for challenging conversations to help them find the connection and joy that they are longing for in their lives. She knows that only you are the expert of your story, and she provides a collaborative environment to better understand your inner world.

           Emily always starts from a non-judgmental approach as she begins to learn about each of her clients' history.  She likes to take a history of critical life events and understand a person’s cultural and generational background as it helps contextualize each person’s story.  She employs empathy and curiosity to help people share their vulnerabilities in a safe and supported environment.  She holds space for people to work through difficult emotions in an empowering style.  Her therapy team describes Emily as being doggedly strengths based in all her ways of intervening in the therapy room.  

            Clients reach out to Emily for both small difficulties in their life, along with lifelong challenges.  Emily has extensive expertise working with attachment traumas, depression, OCD, mood disorders, depression, ADHD, disabilities, phobias, and challenging family dynamics.  Additionally, Emily is experienced in working with conflict resolution for both couples and families.  Some of Emily’s additional areas of focus include: general individual mental health, couples therapy, family therapy, sexuality issues, LGBTQ+ , trauma work (attachment, grief, trauma events), and grief and loss work, along with pregnancy and postpartum support.  She also frequently works with young adults and transitional life situations.  

           In her free time, Emily enjoys hiking with her family, along with cooking new recipes to share.  She loves devouring books, and typically alternates between historical non-fiction and novels.
