“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” -Carl Rogers

MEET EMMA:

Relationships are at the heart of a meaningful life—and Emma believes that healing and growth begin within them. She welcomes individuals, couples, and families into a space designed to feel safe, warm, and judgment-free. Her approach is grounded in empathy and collaboration, inviting clients to explore their stories with compassion and curiosity.

Emma earned her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Elizabethtown College. She practices from a person-centered, strengths-based perspective, integrating evidence-based modalities such as Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

  • Emma’s professional journey includes her work at the Naaman Center, where she supported individuals navigating substance use and trauma in both Lancaster and Dauphin Counties. Through this experience, she developed a deep respect for each client’s resilience, courage, and capacity for change. Her practice continues to be guided by the belief that every person already holds the inner resources necessary for growth and healing—they simply need a supportive environment to uncover them.

Her therapeutic focus spans a wide range of concerns, including addiction recovery, grief and bereavement, women’s mental health, ADHD, anxiety, depression, the effects of natural disasters, and the unique needs of older adults. Emma is passionate about creating affirming spaces for members of the LGBTQIA+ community and values helping clients build stronger, more authentic connections with themselves and others.

She finds inspiration in the book Letters to a Young Therapist, which she describes as a meaningful guide for clinicians learning to blend empathy with clinical skill. It reminds her that the most effective therapy grows from genuine human connection, self-awareness, and the willingness to learn alongside clients throughout the therapeutic journey.

Emma works with clients who may feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or uncertain about the next steps in their lives. She helps them slow down and gain clarity—whether that means navigating loss, rebuilding self-esteem, managing life transitions, or improving communication within relationships. Her warm, grounded presence invites clients to approach therapy at their own pace, knowing that each small step forward can create meaningful change over time.

Emma believes therapy is not about fixing what’s broken, but about recognizing what’s already working and nurturing strengths. She strives to empower clients to move from self-doubt toward confidence, from emotional pain toward understanding, and from isolation toward connection. Each session becomes an opportunity to explore challenges, cultivate hope, and build self-compassion that supports lasting growth.

Outside of the office, Emma enjoys reading mysteries and fiction, practicing portrait and street photography, and spending time outdoors with her pet.
