MEET JENNIFER:

Jennifer Hyewon Ra, M.Phil.Ed. Candidate at PennGSE, is a Master's Candidate Intern Therapist completing her training in the University of Pennsylvania's Professional Counseling program. Having lived in South Korea, England, Hong Kong, Japan, and the U.S., Jennifer has witnessed firsthand how the need for mental healthcare transcends nationality, race, culture, language, and family structure, and strives to welcome clients of all identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences into her office.

Before beginning her graduate training, Jennifer worked as a Clinical Project Manager at a counseling center in South Korea, developing a nuanced understanding of both the clinical and administrative sides of therapy. She later completed a clinical internship with the Youth Mood & Anxiety Program at Nemours Children's Health in Delaware, supporting children and adolescents ages 8–18 with CBT- and DBT-informed approaches, and brings a background in social psychology research examining how systemic norms, biases, and stigma shape identity. Jennifer works with adolescents, adults, and families navigating mood and anxiety concerns and challenging family dynamics, with particular interest in helping clients navigate significant life transitions and find greater meaning and self-understanding within their life stories.
