“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” -Carl Rogers

MEET LYDIA:

Lydia Ricks is a compassionate mental health professional who graduated with her MS in Clinical Psychology at Millersville University. She is committed to helping clients navigate personal challenges with empathy, respect, and patience, fostering growth and healing in their lives. She provides a safe and supportive space to explore your experiences and move toward growth. Her approach is always client-centered and strengths-based.

Lydia draws from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and mindfulness-based practices. Lydia is committed to supporting clients in gaining insight into their thoughts and emotions. Her work focuses on individuals facing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, women’s mental health challenges, and addiction. Lydia is also a proud advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community.

  • Lydia’s educational journey has shaped the way that she shows up for her clients, adding to the supportive environment she creates. Lydia has found specific meaning in Existential & Humanistic Therapy, where she deepened her understanding of meaning, authenticity, and the human experience. Additional coursework in Family Dynamics and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has provided her with tools to challenge her clients and guide them toward meaningful change.

A key influence in Lydia’s life was Dr. Andrew Bland, a professor at Millersville University. He introduced several books during his course in Existential Therapy, such as Life-Enhancing Anxiety (Kirk J. Schneider). This book encourages us to engage with life challenges or uncertainties, which allows growth.

Outside of work, Lydia enjoys exploring trails in Lancaster County and staying active. She also loves cooking and baking for family and friends, finding joy in fostering connections and creating meaningful experiences. Lydia is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of her clients and advancing mental health care.
