MEET MIKE:

      Mike Shook is a beacon of compassion and expertise in the counseling field. Mike is the Director of Internship Programming for the 2024-2025 MCT Cohort at Sun Point Foundation. Mike set a new bar at Sun Point by integrating cutting-edge outcomes-based data tracking programs for the MCT team. This groundbreaking initiative reflects his unwavering commitment to maximizing the efficacy of therapeutic interventions and driving positive change to best help our clients.  

     Mike's professional journey is marked by a rich tapestry of experiences across diverse demographics. He has adeptly guided individuals, couples, and families through their most challenging moments, earning a reputation for his collaborative, engaged, and deeply present approach. Clients consistently praise his creativity, responsiveness, and unwavering dedication to their well-being.

  • Mike personally knows the difference that a good therapist can make in your life. From a very young age he struggled with anxiety and depression. After a particularly difficult period and turbulence with his family, he was fortunate enough to be matched with a wonderful counselor who walked alongside him as he made sense of his life and working toward wholeness. That gift of therapy is something he is forever grateful for and would like to share with those in the community who are struggling.

    Mike's professional journey began in Beijing, China, where he honed his counseling skills in outpatient mental health settings. Since returning to the United States in 2021, he has made significant contributions to the field through his work at local non-profit counseling centers. Currently, Mike serves as a distinguished faculty member and practicum coordinator at Elizabethtown College, where he nurtures the growth and development of aspiring counseling professionals.

    Mike considers it a profound privilege to walk alongside individuals as they navigate their innermost struggles and emerge stronger and more resilient. Mike Shook embodies the epitome of excellence in mental health counseling, seamlessly blending compassion, expertise, and a profound commitment to fostering positive change in the lives of his clients and the broader community. At a community level, in recent years he has worked on assisting several small and midsize providers in Medicaid/PerformCare enrollment which helps expand services for countless individuals with a great need for counseling services in our community.

    Beyond his professional pursuits, Mike finds solace and inspiration in nature, often immersing himself in the great outdoors through activities like hiking and gardening. He cherishes moments spent with his beloved wife and three sons, recognizing the profound healing power of familial connection and play.
