"Therapy offers us a space to slow down, become curious about ourselves, and feel genuinely seen and understood."
MEET SARA:
Sara Trohaugh, MSW Candidate, is a Master of Social Work candidate at Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research. Her clinical perspective is informed by training through the Hakomi Institute in experiential and somatic psychotherapy and the Penn Program for Mindfulness, as well as her background as a therapeutic massage practitioner and massage/yoga instructor — experiences that have deepened her appreciation for the connection between mind, body, emotions, and relationships. As a clinician, she strives to be warm, present, collaborative, and relational, creating a space where clients feel genuinely seen and can approach themselves with curiosity rather than criticism.
Her approach draws from attachment and relational perspectives, family systems, trauma-informed practice, and somatic approaches, grounded in the belief that therapy should be responsive to the individual rather than a one-size-fits-all model. Together with clients, she explores the patterns, emotions, relationships, and experiences that shape a person's life. Her clinical interests include trauma and its impact on relationships, life transitions, grief and loss, mind-body connection, diverse relationship structures, intimacy and sexuality, family dynamics, and attachment and relational patterns.

Her experience in hospice care has given her the privilege of walking alongside individuals and families through some of life's most vulnerable seasons — grief, loss, change, and new beginnings. Her decision to become a therapist was shaped by witnessing firsthand the impact of mental health and relational challenges within families, and the meaningful difference supportive therapy can offer.
Outside of therapy, Sara loves open-water swimming, hiking, and forest bathing, which helps her slow down and reconnect with the natural world. She is a parent to two adolescent daughters and lives in a lively multi-generational household.
