MEET VANESSA:

When you meet Vanessa, you’ll notice she has a warm, welcoming approach that makes you feel truly seen and heard. She is trauma-informed and strengths focused, drawing on some of the most well-researched, effective healing methods available to empower you to experience change and growth

Clients come to Vanessa for both individual and couples counseling so that they can thrive in their everyday lives. With former private practice experience, Vanessa has experience working with adults at all stages of life. While trauma, specifically complex PTSD, is Vanessa’s primary focus, she skillfully works with individuals navigating a variety of challenges, including anxiety, depression, ADHD/ADD, life transitions, relationship struggles, premarital counseling, career development, Enneagram exploration, complicated family dynamics, and attachment issues.

  • Regarding her therapeutic approach, Vanessa is fully trained in EMDR and is a member of the 2023-24 IFS (Internal Family Systems) Circle, routinely incorporating “parts work” into sessions. To meet you where you are, Vanessa also integrates mindfulness, DBT, narrative therapy, and TIST interventions.

For Vanessa, psychology literature inspiration comes in the form of “The Book of Awakening” by poet and philosopher Mark Nepo. It features a series of beautiful short reflections that encourages all of us to ‘live the life we want by being present to the life we have’.

Vanessa understands the ups and downs of the therapeutic journey firsthand: She was inspired to switch careers after many years of meaningful work with her local therapist. She knows life is complicated and wants to walk alongside you amidst the whirlwind. Vanessa believes that everyone deserves to have an amazing therapist in their life.

Before immersing herself in the world of therapy, Vanessa enjoyed work in international economic development, the arts, and writing. Vanessa loves theater, basketball (Rock Chalk Jayhawk!), and travel, and has a competitive side that comes out while playing word games.
