“Seeking therapy is an act of valor. Prioritizing mental health is actively choosing not to re-read the last chapter of your life so you can begin the next.”

~ Wes Wilson

MEET WES:

Wes Wilson embodies a nurturing, attentive and client-centered approach in his work with clients.  His passion for counseling began when he was working in ABA therapy.  He quickly recognized the importance of systemic therapy and helping a whole family or couple through life’s challenges. Throughout his collegiate training, Wes maintained the President's List and was drawn to learning about psychology and motivates people to create positive changes in their lives.  He worked for several years in the educational field before pursuing his Masters in Marriage Family to help individuals, couples and families in the Lancaster Community.

Wes is dedicated to providing LGBTQ+ therapy, couples therapy, sex therapy, trauma therapy and helps individuals work through anxiety, depression, and substance misuse. With a strengths-based approach, his modality is collaborative in letting each client lead the way on their journey.  He walks alongside his clients to help them reach their goals.  He integrates narrative therapy and emotionally focused therapy at the core of his clinical work.  Wes attended advanced trainings in Systemic Approaches to Gender and Sexuality, which helps him work with individuals who may be questioning their sexuality or looking to talk about gender issues or transitioning.

  •         Wes attended The Institute for Creative Mindfulness’s EMDRIA Approved EMDR Training under the supervision of Amber Stiles-Bodnar. He finds EMDR helpful for two reasons: 1) Helping clients learn coping skills to feel ok by resource tapping and 2) Help move past difficult stories that may be hindering their lives. The foundation of his trauma therapy is to cultivate a trusting and safe therapeutic environment. Mr. Wilson holds space for clients to share their life experiences in a non-judgmental way.

Wes is passionate about serving marginalized communities, and reserves sliding scale spaces for clients with financial need at Sun Point Counseling.   He recognizes that all too often we can get stuck in the same routine or communication loop and is here to help guide you to shift your patterns in an accepting and encouraging way.  Wes is proud to work alongside nine other Masters Level Therapists in order to provide premier evidence-based services to the Lancaster community and greater Pennsylvania virtual therapy.

In his spare time, Wes enjoys the performing arts and is an active member of the local theatre community. You can often find him journaling as he is trying out new coffee shops.
